"Handles" are equivalent to the nick names people give themselves in online forums. Go to any forum that allows usernames and sift through them. Remove the random numbers and clan tags that may be present, then you have a handle.

These are all examples of handles that a typical professional might use in Seattle.  Shadowrunners often use handles that are suggestive of a certain skill set, faction, or specific accomplishment.  Handles help a person maintain anonymity and uphold a favorable reputation.
